Baby
Change Table
The
place for all your baby change table needs
What
is a baby change table ?
A baby change table,
also referred to as a baby changing unit or
station, is a piece of furniture you will often buy for a new born
baby. The baby change
table will usually be kept in the babies bedroom
and will consist of a
- Table on the top – this is big
enough to fit a changing mat.
- Shelves or drawers - these can
be used for storing all sorts
including nappies, cotton wool, creams, a top and tail bowl and any
other changing accessories you may require.
| One
of the main advantages of a baby
change table is that it allows you
to keep all the changing things in one place so there’s no
searching around the house for for missing items when its time for a
nappy change. |
 |
As well as being able to purchase a baby
change table as part of a unit
you can also get:
Wall mounted: If space is an issue then a wall mounted changing table
may be the answer. This type of baby change table will fold up against
the wall. However, the main disadvantage of this is that it offers very
little in the way of storage for all the other changing accessories you
may require.
Over the Cot: This is simply a table which fits across the bars of the
Cot, if space is again an issue then they provide the easiest option,
however as with the wall mounted table they provide little to no
storage.
Things to consider when
purchasing a Baby
Change Table
If you are looking to purchase a baby
change table then you may wish to
consider the following:
 |
1.
The Height of the table –
does it provide a suitable and comfortable height for changing your
baby, the last thing you want is to buy something which is to low
causing back strain or one which is to high and causes you to have to
reach |
2. The sturdiness – You
don’t want to be buying something which shakes and wobbles
every time you use it, the main priority here is the babies safety and
in no way do you want to risk that with some inferior product
3. Storage – Does it provide
enough storage for all the changing accessories, don’t forget
there is probably a lot more involved in changing a baby than you first
think, as well as the nappies, there is the cream, cotton wool, change
of clothing, nappy bags and so on.
| 4.
Space – the space you have
will influence what type of baby
change table you get, whether it be
the full unit, a table mounted on the wall or one which goes across the
COT |
 |
5. Price – Your budget will
probably be the deciding factor regarding the quality and features your
baby change table will incorporate
